Series information
Kyou Kara Maou! is otherwise known as King from now on!, Maou from now on!, Kyou Kara Maou—God save our king! and Maruma. Several companies are responsible for the creation and distribution of the animanga, including Studio DEEN and Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc. The original creator of Maruma is Takabayashi Tomo, and the anime, manga, and CD drama collections are all based on his novels.
The series starts when Shibuya Yuuri, a normal teenager, saves one of his classmates, Murata Ken, from a gang of bullies. When Murata Ken escapes, the gang turns their anger on Yuuri and flushes him down a toilet, which happens to be a portal to another world. In this world, Yuuri finds out that black hair and black eyes aren't common unless you're a demon-child, or a Mazoku. Furthermore, people begin calling him the demon-king, the Maou. :D
Here, he meets several people, including Conrad Weller, Günter von Christ, Gwendal von Walde, and the firey, spoiled, selfish, hotheaded brat Wolfram von Bielefeld (insert squeal here). :D Yuuri slowly learns that being the Maou is hard work... :)
Kyou Kara Maou appears at first as a humorous, no-point series, but eventually takes the audience into the fears and insecurities of the two main inhabitants of this alternate world, the Mazoku and the humans. There are also some secrets to be revealed, and, or course, the world to save from evil. :)
Essentially this series is for people looking for light, no-need-for-brains humor (lol), hot bishounen who like to play with big swords, strong women who kick ass, a clueless yet good-hearted protagonist, and shounen-ai hints galore. :D
I didn't expect to get addicted to the show, but it's so crack yet at the same time so engaging. This has become one of my favorite animanga series (and Wolf-chan one of my favorite characters), and I recommend it to people who're looking for a good laugh mixed with good, alternate-world fantasy and adventure. :)
