Why make a shrine to Wolfram?

Because he's cute. Do I need any more reason than that? XD

Okay, okay, fine. But before you continue reading I have to warn you that you might not agree with everything I say here. In fact, Shibuya Yuuri and Yuuki Miaka (Fushigi Yuugi) fans can turn away now. Yes, NOW. GO AWAY. GOOD GIRL/BOY. Still there? Okay. I would like to say that everything written here is entirely my opinion, and I don't want anyone getting pissy-bitch over it, because I believe you have better things to do. And if you're planning on flaming me (and note that flaming is entirely different from plain disagreeing), then I have something more important for you to do. Let us start with one: GET A LIFE.

Okay then? Okay, let's begin. Even before I watched the anime series of Kyou Kara Maou, I already knew this animanga existed. I therefore also knew that Wolfram is a hot, smexy boy. I then watched the anime out of curiosity, and instantly fell in love with Wolfram's character. Wolfram is spoiled, bratty, and throws hissy-fits often, which I found extremely adorable. Despite that, Wolfram also can be helpless, strong, fragile, or heroic. He has different faces, but the audience can be assured that it's rare to see him without any emotion whatsoever.

I read somewhere before that if Wolfram were a female, he would probably be annoying. I don't think that's the case for me. In fact, even if Wolfram were a girl I would still find him cute and interesting, because he always gives a certain life to the scene whenever he's around. I don't mind him being bratty; it gives a bit of realism, and I can understand why he's spoiled-rotten. After all, he's one of the elite, so it's not that surprising he acts that way. I mean, of course it would have been nicer if he were an elite and a nice person at the same time, but then that would make him a pretty boring character. So yeah, I wouldn't like him as much if he were that way. Actually, if I were to be completely honest, I would think Yuuri would be tons annoying if he were a girl. I mean, I already get annoyed with him in his current, cutey-boy state; what more if I'm not attracted to his looks? XD I don't know; he seems a bit too goody-goody to me, and he always gets himself into unnecessary trouble and Conrad and the others always have to come save him and stuff. Half of the time I just want to hit him on the head and yell "get a grip!", but of course once he turns into the Maou I wouldn't have a chance against him. I disliked him the most when he exclaimed something along the lines of "Trusting is much better!" I mean, yeah it is, but then other people would get hurt unnecessarily because they want to please you. And how many times does he have to be kidnapped?! I try to like him, because yes, I do agree that he's good-hearted, but his character just isn't working for me. Maybe for most people, but definitely not for me. In fact, he reminds me a lot of Miaka, except he has a penis and no one has attempted to rape him yet.

Okay, enough about Yuuri. Like I said earlier, I wouldn't like Wolfram as much if he weren't spoiled and pissy. One of the reasons I like characters is because they have flaws, which gives more realism to who they are. I also like characters who, despite those flaws, have a nicer, more understanding side to them, or who eventually find that in themselves through their journeys and adventures, and Wolfram is that kind of character. That is also why I dislike mary sues and epitomes of all that is evil in the world. There's no realism. Everyone has their flaws and strengths. Even "evil" people have their reasons: for instance, they don't want to destroy the world "just because". I mean, that's a pretty shitty plot twist. When they were born in the world, did they immediately scream "I want to destroy the world!" and kill their doctors? I don't think so.

Okay, getting carried away again. Back to the discussion. I think Wolfram's charm lies a lot in his trying to be mean to everyone, but not quite making it. Yes, I think Wolfram cares a lot about the people around him, such as Yuuri, Conrad, Gwendal, Greta, and Cecilie. He might appear as if he dislikes a lot of things at first, but this is only his front. I like the idea that he's trying to act tough but is a softie inside. Yeah, I'm a sucker for guys like that. XD Like I said somewhere else around this site, Wolfram might be acting that way because he knows no better, but eventually the audience will see that Wolfram does hold a lot of love inside; he just shows it in the only way he knows how. It might not be as effective as Conrad constantly being nice to almost everyone, or Cecilie glomping every guy she likes, but he expresses it, nonetheless, in his own bratty way that Wolfram fans have come to adore. :)
